About The Teacher

Tasheena Medina moved to Los Angeles in 2011 from the sunny state of Arizona to attend AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts. Since graduating  with her BFA in Dance Theatre, Tasheena has choreographed for numerous projects on the stage and the screen. Some examples include  Nickelodeon's AwesomenessTV, assisting choreographers such as Nicole Berger on FOX TV's Brooklyn Nine-Nine and NBC’s Parks and Rec, and choreographing Couerage Theatre’s West Coast Premiere of The Sparrow, for which she was recently nominated for an LA Stage Alliance Ovation award. She’s performed for Scott Benzel’s Mathesis and Mathematikoi at Mt. Wilson Observatory, and has been a performance artist for projects such as Disintegrate Devour and an anonymous Los Angeles art collective’s, Petal Drop LA. Tasheena is director and producer of the nonprofit Clusterfu, a visual and performance art show, in partnership with the mentorship program DSTL Arts, whose goal is to educate and inspire the youth of Los Angeles. She also produces the annual National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day performance art event Positive Transformations, helping to educate and bring awareness to the community about HIV and AIDS. Tasheena is currently a Dance Outreach Representative of AMDA’s Dance Theatre program. She travels to dance events all over the world, educating young dancers on becoming a working professional in the industry and awarding scholarships to attend AMDA programs. Tasheena’s mission is to be of service, to use her gifts of storytelling and collaboration in order to inspire and heal our planet through the arts.
